The sword-wielding variant deals in Standard, Thrust, and Strike damage, meaning that you'll need to constantly have your shield up to block or deflect their incoming attacks. There are two variants of the Lothric Knights: one that uses a sword and the other that uses a spear. Compared to the other enemies in this area, the Knights are hyper-aggressive and have a significantly higher health pool, so you need to approach these encounters in the most tactical way possible. You'll encounter a cluster of these Knights towards the end of this area in one of the game's first real challenges. Your first encounter with the Lothric Knights is at the High Wall of Lothric, which just so happens to be the first area of the game you properly get to explore.

This is perhaps most evident with the Lothric Knights, a basic enemy type that has thrown new players through the wringer on several occasions. Of the three games in the core series, Dark Souls III is arguably the most difficult, due to its core combat having a greater emphasis on speed and aggression. Yet in spite of that, the Dark Souls series remains one of gaming's most enduring and popular franchises due to its addictive and rewarding gameplay loop.
